Getting young people involved in savings is something that St Colman’s Credit Union is actively involved in. It has recently launched a new schools scheme, going out to local national schools and encouraging young savers to join up. As part of the scheme it will match the first deposit of the school savers up to €5, so if young savers lodge €5 they will end up with €10 in their accounts.
Helping out third level students to complete their studies is another thing that St Colman’s Credit Union is very passionate about and because of this it has a competition where a member who is a student can get college fees paid for a year up to the value of €3,500. Speaking about the scheme, James Maloney, chairperson of the board of directors said, “We want to support our young people and what better way than giving them a head start with their education.”
For any student interested in entering this competition, they can call into the St Colman’s Credit Union offices at The Square, Claremorris or call them on 094 9371159 for more information.
